Our story
We started because the shelf was wrong.
Johana Products Rwanda Ltd makes personal care in Kigali, for the skin, hair and households of East and Central Africa.
History
Four years, one factory, nineteen product lines.
Johana began with a simple observation: almost everything on a Rwandan beauty shelf was formulated somewhere else, for someone else’s climate, hair and budget. We set out to make the alternative locally — not a cheaper copy, but a product designed from the start for the people buying it.
Today we manufacture hair care, skin care, baby care and grooming from one facility in Kigali, filling everything from 25 ml sachets to 5-litre salon containers.
We also run contract manufacturing and private label for partners across the region — formulation through to finished pack, under your brand or ours.
Vision & mission
Where we are going.
Vision
To become Africa’s most trusted and admired personal care brand, enriching lives through innovative, high-quality products inspired by African beauty and heritage.
Mission
To develop safe, innovative and affordable personal care solutions that celebrate African beauty, empower communities, and create lasting value for our customers, partners and employees.
Core values
Four words we are held to.
Integrity
What is on the label is in the pack. We do not overstate a benefit to move a unit.
Innovation
New formats, formulations and sizes — driven by what customers actually ask us for.
Customer first
Price, size and availability are design decisions, not afterthoughts.
Sustainability
Local manufacturing, local jobs, and packaging decisions we can defend.
Manufacturing & quality
One facility. Every batch traceable.
Blending, filling, labelling and packing all happen in Kigali. Every SKU carries a batch code, and every batch is retained and recorded — so a product on a shelf in Kampala can be traced back to the day it was made.
- In-house quality control on raw materials and finished goods
- Batch coding and retention samples on every production run
- RSB standardisation mark carried on pack
- Contract manufacturing and private label for regional partners
Community
Beauty is an industry that employs people.
Salons, kiosks, wholesalers, drivers, packers. Every product line we add is a few more people earning.
